From the Director - Vocation is a mystery
The missionary vocation is mysterious like all vocations; we don’t have a vocation, it has us. The only other words worth writing are what so many missionaries experience: ’I received more than I gave’. (more)
Pope Francis a leader who makes sense
Pope Francis is enormously popular. Among other things he was Time’s Person of the Year in 2013. That same year, Pope Francis appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and Esquire judged him to be the Best Dressed Man, which is strange as he wears the same white soutane every day. (more)
Giving thanks to God for the presence of the Wurundjeri people
On Monday August 4, an open air Liturgy was celebrated at the Columban Mission Centre in Essendon, Melbourne, to give thanks to God for the presence of Aboriginal people in the Melbourne area and right across Australia. (more)
Reaching beyond the parish
The Philippines Partnership is alive in our parishes and schools. We expected to see, and saw, poverty at its extremes. We were humbled by the positivity and generosity that we experienced and returned home with an invigorated sense of hope. (more)

Reflection - When human values are forgotten
After World War II the world was shocked when the Nazi eugenics programme became known, with the forced sterilization of over 400,000 people and another 275,000 murdered. Horrible and inhuman, it still didn’t make a difference in Peru, in 1995, when Indian and rural women were targeted for sterilization. (more)
